2010년 8월 11일 ~ 9월 9일까지 계속되었던
이슬람의 축제 라마단

라마단은 이슬람력으로 아홉 번째 달이다.
(2010년 기준으로는 8월 11일 ~ 9월 9일까지)

라마단 기간에는 음식, 음료, 흡연, 성행위 등이 모두 금지된다.
라마단 기간 동안 무슬림들은 폭력, 화, 시기, 탐욕, 중상 등을 삼감으로써
이슬람의 가르침을 따르고 서로 잘 지내고자 한다.

모든 음탕하고 반종교적인 행위 역시 금지된다.

라마단 기간 중에는 이슬람 신자가 아닌 외국인이라도 금식하는 사람들 앞에서 먹거나 마시는 것은
예의에 어긋나므로 외국인들이 먹거나 마시려면 금식하는 사람들 앞에서 떨어져야 한다.
